Beginner Belly Dance

In this 6-week session, students will learn basic music theory, rhythms, and movements of Egyptian style belly dance, finishing with a short choreography for practice. This class is suitable for both brand-new beginners and those students who have previously completed either a Boot Camp class or a Beginner Belly Dance series. Students will receive class notes for home practice.
 
These classes are offered on a rotating basis, with new options each session.

Belly Dance Fitness

Want to dance and still get a workout? Try a SharQui class! SharQui is a 60 minute, power-packed floor aerobics class that fuses both belly dance and movements from traditional aerobic fitness classes.  Using the add-on method (which includes breakdown and repetition of the movement so that everyone feels successful) we will create one long choreography guaranteed to get your heart pumping and muscles working.  It’s an easy -to-follow format that anyone can do. Not only will you belly dance but you will gain core strength, speed, isolation and stamina.

Frequently Asked Questions: Classes

What does it cost?
All of our classes are taught in 6-week sessions. The 6-week session consists of 6 one-hour classes, one class a week. The TOTAL FEE for the 6-week class session is $60, which is payable at the first class.

What do I wear?
Something comfortable. Most of our students wear something like yoga pants and tank tops. Please don't wear something overly baggy like a big T-shirt. We need to be able to see the line of your body. You can take class barefoot or in soft ballet or jazz slippers. Please, no street shoes on the dance floor.

I'm overweight/underweight or out of shape. Can I still take class?
Of course you can!!! Belly dance is for women of all shapes and sizes! There is no such thing as "too much belly" or "too little belly" for this class.

What is SharQui ?
SharQui is a 60 minute, power-packed floor aerobics class that fuses both belly dance and fitness.  It is designed on the add-on method which includes breakdown and repetition of the movement so that everyone feels successful, to create one long choreography.  It’s an easy -to-follow format that anyone can do. Not only will you belly dance but you will gain core strength, speed, isolation and stamina. Amanda Aziyade is a licensed and certified SharQui instructor. Can my daughter/niece take class with me?
We do not currently offer children's classes for young students, but it can be a great bonding experience for the mature teen or tween to learn belly dance with Mom.

Can I watch a class before I sign up?
Of course! Please contact us to arrange to observe one of our Level 2 dance classes, which are taught in the same format as the Beginning classes.


Can I bring my husband/boyfriend?
Sorry, but no. Our students have requested that we not allow this.
